My son wanted a lifter for his 97 TJ. The suspension was bone stock. While buying some other parts from a guy he had a clean set of springs, shocks, sway bar links, and a rear track bar relocation bracket that I bought. Today I tried tackling the project. I started at the rear. Let me just preface I did watch a you tube video and it looked straight forward for a 2.5” lift. Once I did the rear springs, I tried connecting the sway bar links only to notice the rear axle was shifted about an inch or two to the passenger side. Thinking I still had the rear sway bar bracket, I assumed the reason the axle was shifted about to the right was because of the track bar. I must’ve changed the geometry going on back there. So I disconnected the track bar at the axle and almost immediately the axle shifted to center. I then proceeded to install the rear track bar relocating bracket and then it was time to move to the front.
The YouTube video never mentioned relocating the track bar on the rear or the front at all. So I move to the front, after disconnecting the sway bar links band getting the old springs out, I proceeded to install the front spring. Once I got that first spring in I went to the drivers side and noticed again the front axle has shifted. I did not have a bracket for the front to relocate the track bar. I’m not having luck finding one either. So I am wondering what others have done for the front track bar? I disconnected the track bar at the axle and the axle centered itself immediately. Now I’m about an inch away from the original bracket . I have not installed the second spring yet.
