Heater Control Vacuum suggestions

I recently picked up a 98 2.5L for my granddaughter and I've got most of the kinks worked out over the last few months. Today I was trying to figure out why the heat control switch isn't working and I think I found the problem.

The vacuum line from the 'T' on the firewall by the heater core lines that goes through the foam and into the cabin is missing. Looking behind the glove box it looks like there is a rubber connector about 3 inches in where it should connect to but there is no way I can get my hand in there to reconnect a new line.

So my question is this: Does the line from the 'T' connect straight to the back of the control switch on the dash? If I can fish a new rubber line through can I just tie in to the black line near the back of the control switch or do I have to figure out how to get behind the glovebox?

Thanks,
Bob
