Definitely not a Ford 8.8, but I don't know what that is. Might need more pictures. It actually looks like some kind of Chrysler, but I can't be sure.

How about a Dana 25 or 27?

Did Dana 30's get paired with leaf springs at any point?

'72 through '85, on CJ's, Commandos and SJ Cherokees. Doesn't matter, though, because the cover depicted earlier isn't the same shape as a 25/27/30 housing. That housing also doesn't really resemble any Dana housing that I've seen. Closest match in shape/bolt pattern (no size reference) is the Chrysler 7.25". The 7.25" cover in that chart you posted is for what I've seen referred-to as a "nine bolt" but it doesn't resemble the ten-bolt 7.25" cover at all. Do an image search and you'll see what I mean.

I really hate to ask but this is a Dana 35 right? This is my 4th Jeep but the old guy I bought it from knew little about it except that it has a Toyota Motor...looks like a 4.0 to me but I'm no mechanic

I hope the old guy didn't pay for a Toyota engine to be put in.
I do too!

He paid for a new Transmission a few weeks prior. He never owned a Jeep and thought it would be a fun vehicle to ride around town in...Louisiana roads and roads on the moon are about the same quality
