If it's no longer selling them, I wonder if Bestop would share the blueprints for 3D printing.

Yeah... not likely.
I have been thinking about designing one in Fusion 360, though. It would have to print in several pieces. My build volume is about 10" x 10" x 10".

I can tell you from when these plastic storage boxes were being made that there was issues with them warping which I think is part of the reason they stopped making them anymore.

I wish someone would use a good set as a mold and make new versions from fiberglass. They could be carpeted or painted to match, with actual upholstery on the lids too.
My first thought as well. It wouldn’t surprise me he had something to do with the original design.

Hi there! We discontinued the Storage Module back in 2004 and even if we still had the blueprints for it, its considered proprietary information so Customer Service wouldn't be able to offer that. However, I'd be happy to send anyone interested in the installation instructions to them! As for a current storage option, I would also recommend checking out what Tuffy has to offer!

Hi Crystal, I'm in the UK and have a pair of the side storage bins but no mounting hardware. If you could send the installation instructions i could then fabricate my own mounting hardware. Been looking on UK Jeep forms about these storage boxes for ages, only a couple of people in the UK had ever heard or seen these boxes. Very grateful for any info you can supply. I've also emailed you via the link in your reply.
The Tuffy side bins are overkill for my needs. When I saw these I thought.. perfect! Perfect size. No speaker grills. Less likely to remove layers of skin if a passenger rested an arm on it. Plus I just like Bestop stuff.
I'll keep looking. I thought I would never find the Bestop Oversize Tire Carrier and eventually one surfaced.

The Bestop boxes look quite practical and well thought out. It's too bad that they aren't in production anymore . . . .
If you guys ever want to make them again… let us know please . I’m sure a lot of people will buy as tuffy version is a bit much for me !!

My hobby is one off boat building, and this can be done.
It is, however, a big process and quite expensive to create the mold. This then leads to a high cost per item. X2 because the 2 sides.
If there was a commitment for 10-12 sets, the price could (could) be somewhat palatable. It will not be anywhere close to a plastic injection production model.
What would make it more affordable would be if someone 3D printed one and that was used to create the mold. That would shave a whole bunch of hours building the plug.
Tuffy does offer some pads I think that could fit on the storage bins. You don't have to use the speaker area or you can put some 4" mids in there to add some filler.
That's COOL... You might find enough people on here who want a set since this seems to come up every couple of years.
