Don't stress, I could tell how you meant it ...that we need all types. The older I get the more I understand that.

And we do..all society's do, God set it up that way. Mankind needs to play along.

You guys know what the message to young people needs to be ? It needs to be this - whatever you do , strive to be great at it. Strive to be the best, to learn , study, apply yourself. Do more than you are paid , be thorough and work with a cheerful attitude.

We need to get off the message there is shame in blue collar work, because that is what most of the world will always be. Everyone needs to make a living.

Kids need to learn how to go out , kill something and drag it home.

Haaa, reminds me of when I started my job on the flightline working transient alert here in Houston. As a newbie I had to learn all the equipment first. What good are you around an airplane if you can't work the equipment? One of my jobs was to repaint the lav cart. We had a lively bunch of guys so I went to town on it and painted it up to match our uniforms which we called smurf suits. Blue with a red, white & blue racing stripe partially down the front like a pit crew or something.

But on the back I painted TURD HEARSE. You dump it, we pump it. The No1 company in the No2 business.

Our new ops manager years later (real dickhead), said get that off it's not professional. We dragged our ass doing it and had Air Force One coming in. He said he wanted it removed before their arrival. AF1 advance team shows up and first thing they say is, hey you guys got the turd hearse ready?!! It stayed on and somewhere I have a pic of it underneath AF1.

Dang what an ordeal!! Glad it had a decent outcome. Years ago my electric dryer took a crap and I wanted a gas dryer instead. I have gas in the kitchen and meter is in the back of the house. Laundry room is in the middle. Simple, splice a line and drop it into the laundry room. I call a 'reputable' plumbing company. Guy shows up looks like a 70s porn star. Cheesy mustache, 3 buttons open on his shirt and what did it was the gold bracelet (sorry gold bracelet wearers) and heavy cologne. Listened to his BS, they wanted $700. I said I have to get the dryer first and will call them. Pfffft, F that. Did it myself for less than $200. This was about 10 years ago. Since then figured if I can work with gas then I can work with anything around the house.

Curious, are gas dryers that much better? Or what exactly was your reason for switching? (I’ve thought about doing the exact same thing)

I’m terrified of gas though so I’d definitely hire it out.

Can't say gas is better one way or the other regarding the machine itself but it's definitely cheaper and seems much more efficient to me. Any electrical applicance that big makes me shudder everytime I'd have to turn it on. It was an easy switch due to the location of my gas line and i've been very happy with it. If I sell the house and new owner has electric well it's still there too.
