Hidden gems (places to eat)

I’m sure you guys know of places all over like this-

We are staying in Navarre Beach- For our 31st anniversary.

This little place is in Destin and it is on the water behind a hotel- called Dewey Destins on Crab Island.


It Is the weirdest experience you feel like you’re driving back to a loading dock—-

And you end up out over the water eating some of the best seafood you’ve ever had-

The hole in the wall places are almost always the best. Example being Bandito Burrito in Huntsville.

I used to travel a lot and would ask the locals for the best hole in the wall places, I've been to many great places.

I think the most memorable place was a BBQ joint in Alabar simply called Mama's. It was owned by a black lady who was twice as round as she was tall. I was actually seated with two other gentlemen at a folding card table with folding chairs in the middle of her living room. She did all of the cooking outside on the back porch and used broken refrigerators as her smokers. It was a very unique place and she was only open every other Friday and Saturday. The menu was too simple and so easy to make up your mind - there was none. You ate what she made or you went somewhere else.

Wilson’s Kountry Korner, it’s a gas station in Schriever Louisiana. Delicious and reasonably priced food. I had the roast beef poboy and Mrs App went with the catfish poboy. Was highly recommended to me and they were right. And I hate restaurants that use facebook as their website.

The Magnolia Cafe in Meridian, MS. Used to be a great restaurant to stop and eat at. I haven't been through there in over 14 years.

It's at the Queen City truck stop and the locals will outnumber the truckers 3 to 1 most days.

Another place is Payne's Deli in Scottsboro AL. On the courthouse square. One of the oldest restaurants in Alabama

The Spragpole in Murray Idaho has Phenomenal burgers and pizza
There are a ton of off the beaten path places around here that serve fantastic food and beer
