I rarely pick the picture that ends up as ROTM winner, this got me wondering how people go about picking a picture (or pictures) to vote for.

Personally I think most entries tend to be 'location of the month with a TJ in them' shots, which is of course fine as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, I usually like to try and pick something where the TJ is more central to the picture. I also try to only vote for a picture once, so even if I vote for it one month if it is re-entered the next month I will pick another. Finally, I try to avoid voting for a picture of a location used by somebody else that has already won previously, but given I don't tend to vote for pure landscape shots that isn't usually such an issue when I choose.

So how does everyone else pick their monthly favourite?

I vote for the picture I like the best.

I have a hard time NOT voting for virtually any picture. Pretty useless, I know. I do try for composition, but its pretty hard to screw that up with most shots posted here - as long as they're in "landscape" mode, that is. A picture that is NOT an iconic shot will *always* get my vote!

I vote for something....different...... not desert and not articulated. Full disclosure: I live in the Midwest and am inarticulate.;)
Also with good scenery and good composition.

I "like" based on the whole photo. Ansel Adams I am not but appreciate the whole composition, lighting and role the tj plays in it. For me the jeep needs to be well lit in focus and the primary object. Setup is mostly irrelevant to me.

Its not about the Jeep but about the scenery. Cant remember who it was but a member from FL had noticed all the winners were from mountainous regions and asked for my vote. I voted for him but then somehow his entry was deleted. I asked him about it and he did not know what happened.

I'll probably be called sexist, or racist, or coastist or something, but whatever. Haters gonna hate.
Your a sexist, racist east coast lefty that wears a gold chain so you know where to stop shaving

The ROTM contest has changed a bit as it used to be the most “likes” won but now there is a vote off the last few days so I just “like” what I see not
who posted or where there are from
