How much to offer for impact orange LJR?

If you can get a vehicle you want that is set up the way you would set it up you’ve been very fortunate-

I think that is really the case.

This all goes back to knowing what you want and what you’re willing to pay. And you need to factor in what you don’t like that you may want to change.

But it’s all academic- That is one of the most sought after vehicles in one of the most sought after colors- Somebody out there wants it and at some point he wants to get the money back in his pocket-

I’ve seen so many deals where somebody analyzed it while somebody else was buying it.

I’m not saying rush and make a bad decision- But if it checks enough boxes you might need to move on it.

He is correct, and if you don’t do it pretty quick somebody else will.

I found an LJ Rubicon that I really wanted- And I paid what It took to get it because it was worth more to me than the money.

Nice. What LJ did you end up getting?,

Yeah its set up really nicely for sure! She didn't list the jeep for sale yet but people have brought up good points with the body armor. Holes being drilled in the body. I am in Wisconsin. So i wonder if that would cause a big problem with rust. Like salt getting trapped behind the armor or something. Guess i could not drive it in the winter as well. Alot to think about haha

Salt will destroy any TJ quickly.

This one - It was everything I wanted- all I’ve done is tweaks.

60,000 miles, auto, Savvy aluminum arms, skid, 5:38 gears, etc- build list is a full page. Has a hardtop, full doors, soft uppers and half doors.

I am romantically involved.

I’m about to change the transmission pan for the one Blaine set up a temp sensor bung in.

I assume it’s a Wis vehicle and the major issue would be RUST. I paid $22.5 for my 05 TJRU 6sp 112K miles 2+ yrs ago. Rust free and built the way I wanted. I have about $1K in repairs and upgrades such as injectors and GMRS radio. The front bumper does need a repaint due to rust getting under the powder coating.
The cost depends on your financial situation. I look at my TJ as a toy and expense it that way. Personally the fun factor more than makes up for it’s cost. I live in a rust free environment so I plan on keeping it for a long time. The initial cost is insignificant when factored over time. Rust will be your biggest longevity factor.
I’d offer $22K and see what happens. If they refuse give them your info and tell them to contact you if they change their minds. That price is at the top of the scale and at that price you can find nice ones from rust free areas of the country. Don’t let your emotions get the better of you.

IF the person drilled the holes and then touched them up with paint on the edges (which is commonly done by folks in here), then it would be fine. Usually those holes have a nutsert put in them. That and I don't think many are subject to salt spray.

I would offer 20K and have the extra 4k in my pocket. ask about gears, crawl under it look for leaks and any Offroad damage. Ask about last fluid changes( diffs, tcase ,trans ect) Take it for a drive and listen to it not just the stereo. Is there a soft top? Or just lay down 23K and call it good.

Yeah rust around here is no joke. I am hard headed and had to learn the hard way. Luckily this jeep i am looking at it is in texas. so no rust. Yeah that is probably what i will do. offer 22k and see what she says. I want to find one like yours where i can keep it for a long long time. not have to worry that my frame is going to break or something haha.

No soft top sadly and thank you for the advice. I will keep this in mind if i send up going and taking a look. its all the way in texas and i am in wisconsin haha. finding a rust free jeep around here is very hard. Impact orange is probably my favorite TJ/LJ color. If i pass on this one hopefully i can find another orange LJ that is almost rust free.

Black is a mixed bag/ beautiful, for minutes on end then it needs washed -

This jeep had a pedigree- It was first on here years ago and the build began- Owner eventually changed vehicle directions- Someone else got the vehicle and I don’t think it was exactly in line with what they wanted-

It went for sale and a friend of mine purchased the jeep-

In the process Blaine worked out a lot of loose ends

Ultimately the last buyer agreed to sell me the jeep....(So I would quit stalking him🤣)

The jeep has found a home. I’m glad to be the steward of it.

I don’t know that we really own anything- It is said that the only thing that is really ours is our thoughts and I’m not even sure about that- We certainly live in an echo chamber.

Fortune allows us to have things.

We all need to be grateful for everything good we have. Good things come pretty easy in this country, and often too.

For what is worth in CA last year I paid 19K for an almost stock LJR 6SP with 112,000 miles. One owner. Came with OEM soft and hard top. Great maintenance records. Mods were a 2” spacer lift, on-board air via an old York AC compressor, air tank plumbed to front and rear. And a winch. I basically offered what he was asking.

If you like it, it fits the want / need then it’s your cash. LJR are going to get harder to find.

Yeah. Sadly! I was thinking about doing fluid film or something like that if i get a jeep with no rust

If I am wearing your shoes...I would buy the jeep and drive it from April through October. Drive a shitty car in the winter.

Once rust starts you will be home a slave to it and eventually you will stop caring and the jeep will rust away. I would not drive a nice jeep like this in the salt laden winter months.

If you want to drive a jeep in the winter, there are many 5k ones that will last a few winters before you deliver it to the dump.
