How to sound deaden the interior of your TJ

I did a long sound deadening post. That is in my build thread. You can find both by clicking on my profile pic.
There is a new amazon brand sound deadener. I don't know if its as effective as noico or cheaper.
Look into carinsulation.com i used it on top of the sound deadener. Its a heat sheild. I would highly suggest it over the tunnel and front passenger areas at least.
I also added ACC carpet. Which can not be removed and hosed off. But is alot thicker and adds alot of sound deadening. Buy thru rockauto. But request free color samples from manufacturer. As colors on site can not be actual.
Replace plugs with iridium. 300k mileage iirc. Replace all fluids. There is a fluid guide thread on here. Very helpful. Buy an extra fan belt and other common repair parts. Rockauto is your friend. Look thru threads on tools and emergency gear to carry. There are many.
Consider a hardtop.
Make sure wheels are properly balanced. This can be a challenge for some tire shops.
I would suggest rancho shocks. I believe it is the 5000x series. They are not expensive and the most popular around here for comfortable ride.
Also read about tire pressure. A lower pressure will give you as much comfort as a better shock. I run 28psi. But you can get away with less. Read threads on this.
Go thru your cooling system and ac. Make sure everything is running properly and not in need of repair.
There is a larger oil filter you can buy for not expensive. Its from another car that just so happens to fit our Jeeps. I don't know how much that might help your trip. But I would think it would do a better job of filtering your oil. Considering you're probably not gonna do that on trip. Just a good long term tip.
If u are using a soft top. Get some foam pipe insulation from home depot. Put around soft top frame. To reduce flapping noise. This can make a big difference. And is like $2.
Polk makes great economical speakers. Alot of guys here use them. Get your 4 speakers and stereo up to date. At least able to connect phone to it. Many more listening options with spotify.
Documents. Drivers license, insurance, health insurance cards etc. And digital copies of those and others. Just take pics. In case you lose your wallet.
There are also a ton of roadtrip checklists online.

Editing this as i was being lazy, and just went back and re-read the thread and saw my posts covered.
Have got a roll of this to do the engine bay, and likely to use it for the doors, and then will use the Noico 80 for the front. Not sure whether to do it this time, or whether i do it when i come back to Spain and have more time/space. At the moment, the cars kept on the road so not ideal to leave it overnight in pieces if it takes a long time.
Maybe i'll suggest a weekend at my parents place where they have a big driveway!

Those of you who have installed the Hotheads with Sound Assassin Strips how is it holding up, and how much weight did it add? I'm a little concerned it may not stay up there as I live in the desert and have a black top, it will get very hot up there. Even at 80F I can't hold my hand on the inside of the top after being parked in the sun for a while, and Summer isn't here yet.
Also Curious to know. It's getting hot down here in Texas - looking for a cheaper DIY alternative to the HotHeads, the $400 just seems excessive.

Its self adhesive and been holding up really well. Made a difference in heat/sound, not overwhelming though. Dont forget to stop at Sparkeys in Hatch and be safe!
This is made by heatshield products. Seams to get good reviews. Have seen a few videos https://www.newlevelmotorsports.com/heatshield040170.html
I have no personal experience. You can also go to heatshield products website to see other options.
mmm, that with some of this boat flooring referenced in the other thread could be pretty slick. I have also looked at Lizard skin for easy application heat/sound insulation - seems to get good reviews

seeing as we cant get Noico RED rn (Russian Company in 2023 for people reading this later) I was considering the below as an alternative for hardtop insulation that or just get the DEI insulation.

I was debating between that one, and the 80mil, but figured I can always add that on top if I wanted more.
Ya cant lose with either one. Ive bought stuff from another vendor that thick before and its primarily for the interior firewall and tunnel dampening the noise

Well the 36 sq ft wasnt enough to do it all
It was just enough to do the floorpan.
I still have to do the wheel wells and rear gate

First we sealcoated the floorpan with the Rustoleum professional heavy coat that self leveled

I love my Noico, only complaint is heat - not that any of the 80mil stuff is advertised as a heat barrier, but I am definitely looking for something to stop the trans tunnel from baking my right leg and the hard top from beaming down upon me.

Im curious why theres so much heat from your trans tunnel?
I literally just drove back from Florida 1300 miles with bare steel floors, 5 speed manual, in shorts and slides and had no heat issues. Then again my drain holes were open allowing some air flow in.

Stick, lots of stop and go in Texas summer (little to no airflow around the trans) also the Cat's are Magnaflows which have no heat shields around them (stock ones died), seems to be the main source of heat, as the firewall behind the throttle is so hot you could cook an egg on it.
I am 100% coverage Nocio 80mill with full stock carpets and floor mats, No Tummy Tuck (yet) and it's already a problem. I am thinking about 3D printing a "nozzle" to direct the air from the A/C box foot vent a little bit more towards my leg as apposed to across my toes.

I literally just finished my interior and drove it to a friends yesterday afternoon about 30 mins away and felt no heat whatsoever now. Sealcoated with Rustoleum Pro, 80 mil sound deadener, new carpet, and Rugged Ridge mats
I made headliners out of plywood, Rockwool sound insulation, and attic heat shield. They put some pressure against the top which helps to prevent flex/resonance. The road noise reduction is insane, even the engine sound is less. I can't recommend sound treatment highly enough.
Next step will be CLD on the top and then on the floorboards. For those interested Resonix is probably the best brand on the market, and rated for temps up to, I believe, 400 F.
