I got bit by the bug and had to have one too. It's a very early 1946 CJ2a with the flat head L engine. It's kind of unique for those who are in the know on these things. The early CJ2s were assembled from a lot of left-over military parts originally set for the MB Jeeps. This one has the original indents on the driver's side for the tools. Those indents were dropped in later production. Shovel and axe would have lived there on an MB. It also has a hole in the front bumper and a slot in the crank for a hand starter. It has the same full float rear end as the MB and was an original 3 on the tree shifted transmission. Both of those options were dropped in early to mid '46. Small things, but they make it somewhat unique. This one also has an original PTO accessory drive. I will probably never use it, but it's cool in a utility type way. I'm planning on keeping it mostly original and doing more of a preservation vs a restoration. I want to make it mechanically sound and fix anything that is unsafe. I am not going to mess with the body and frame much except to fix any bad rust or cracks to prevent spreading. First order of business is to get it running and fix a bad bearing in the transmission.
