I dropped my mini flashlight down the defrost duct in the center of the dash. I'm pretty sure its ALL THE WAY AT THE BOTTOM. And the flashlight is aluminum so I can't use a magnet.

Any ideas???

Oooo, that sucks. Can you see it , with an inspection mirror and a flashlight maybe?

If it looks reachable, auto parts stores carry remote griping tool, like a long spring/cable that can grab stuff.

Maybe something like that.

Sure don’t want to take your dash apart for that ☹️

Do you need a new heater core anyway? ;)

Sorry but I may be doing a heater core swap soon so I thought it was appropriate.

But, if you don't need the flashlight I'm betting the defrost will still work as it is unlikely the light is blocking the entire passage.

Not at all!
I just dropped my stubby Phillips down there. I was able to get it out with a magnet on a string though. Can you see it using a mirror?
Sadly I can't. Hopefully with the boroscope I'll see it.

Don't laugh, it works, if you can reach it.

Edit: The size and weight of the flashlight may be to heavy, but I've used it to retrieve several things.

I'll give this a try tomorrow. This may be just sticky enough to hold the flashlight but not sticky enough to grab the sides of the duct on the way down. If it doesn't work, I have a mechanical finger coming on Saturday (with the boroscope).

Wow. If only you had a flashlight to shine in there....hmmmm, I wonder where it would be ....a nice, defrosted one maybe.

Just messing with ya!
