I dropped my mini flashlight down the defrost duct in the center of the dash. I'm pretty sure its ALL THE WAY AT THE BOTTOM. And the flashlight is aluminum so I can't use a magnet.

Edit: The size and weight of the flashlight may be to heavy, but I've used it to retrieve several things.

If you can get a clear visual path, then you may be stuck with leaving it in.

Just ordered a boroscope. Once I can see it, I'll try fishing it out with one of the methods you guys suggested. I'm such a dumb ass.

I just dropped my stubby Phillips down there. I was able to get it out with a magnet on a string though. Can you see it using a mirror?

I'm afraid the duct tape would stick to the sides of the duct before it made it to the bottom. Its pretty narrow and curvy.

I'll give this a try tomorrow. This may be just sticky enough to hold the flashlight but not sticky enough to grab the sides of the duct on the way down. If it doesn't work, I have a mechanical finger coming on Saturday (with the boroscope).
