I hate to say goodbye, but I'm tired of dumping money into my Jeep

I need a reliable vechicle to get to work everyday. And my Jeep has let me down too many times now.
Seems to stall after I fill it with gas, when hit a bump or make a turn. I've replaced the CKP 4 times already.
Fuel pressure is fine. It's too cold out to get stranded in a soft top, and I'm so tired of fixing it.
Frame was repaired before I bought it. But now it's rusted through where the rear control arm mounts to the frame.
I'm gonna miss her. But there comes a time, when I must move on...

I feel the same. I’ve had my jeep for years. I put so much money into it and it’s still not done.

It really doesn’t suit me needs anymore. I have two dogs and a GF. Going on road trips is a big no. No room for anything. I don’t have AC and in the summer it’s way too hot to drive. It’s not comfortable to drive for hours at a time for me, my girlfriend, or my dogs.

I’m been eyeing a 23 Lexus GX460 and contemplating selling my jeep for a down payment but I just can’t. I have so much money invested into it. I’ll hate to see it go. I need about 5-8k more and I’ll be done.

My girlfriend works for home and I’m able to use her 23 RAV4 AWD to drive to work and man it’s so comfortable to drive compared to my Jeep. We go on trips with her car as well and it’s so much better. Of course I get sad when I see a nice obstacle that I can’t do with her car.

There was a time when I was so done with Jeeps that i sold everything cheap. Spare parts, tops, tubs, anything you can imagine I had spares of. Got in a spat with the local wives that were complaining about my collection and the lack of property to wheel on. Sold it all, cheap, including my life’s one regret, my ‘88 with a small block and NV4500 with, wow, 33’s! They were big tires in the last millennium. Put it aside, let it rest for some time and go get into a good reliable but inexpensive DD.
My $.02

I have DD mine for 2 years and love it, that being said i am DD our 2000 Ford F150 now. 430xxx miles on it and runs great.

Will I sell BB? Nope no chance in hades!!!!!!

I miss DD my Rubi but I am slowly making it my weekend have fun ride.

Do what you need to do for you, don't worry what others think or say.

I purchased a '98 XJ new and owned the Jeep for 20 years; in that time I spent > $20K building the Jeep for Rock Crawling.
Also owned a 2011 JK for 7 years that I used as a DD.
Sold both Jeeps prior to moving over seas to live.
When COVID started I was forced to move back to the states and had nothing to drive.
Decided I needed another Jeep to work on and purchased the '01 TJ as a project vehicle which I later turned into my DD.
These Jeeps are not purchased for their comfortable driving or gas mileage; they are purchased by their owners for their uniqueness.
The classic lines of this generation of Jeep is why I purchased my Jeep.

How could anyone sell their Jeep (see profile)? 🥳 I bought my beater Scion 7 years ago for $3,000. It paid for itself in 18 months of gas savings (over driving my XJ) because I drove for a living. It's still going strong. Both are needed for me. If mine was rusted, I wouldn't hesitate to let it go.

I just picked up a 23 GX460 a month ago. Still have my jeep, but my wife and our german shepherd will be much more comfortable on road trips now. I didn't plan on doing any mods to the GX except for some all terrain tires (if that even counts), but I may end up with a 1-2" lift on it eventually (years from now, don't want to void my CPO warranty).

I had to sell mine last summer, so I feel your pain 💔
Hope you find a good daily driver that fits your needs. TJ's are better second vehicles.
Praying that what comes next is even better for both of us 🙏

My TJ sits a lot now that I have another trail rig. I would lose my ass if I sold it. I have spent a ton of money on it the last 14 years of ownership. But if someone offered me a trade for a nice vintage Jeep, like a CJ-7 or J-10 I would trade it without a second thought...
