I don’t wear a seatbelt because I don’t want to be strapped in when the machine rolls to its death. I haven’t come remotely close to worrying about this in all of my crawling and romping, but I’m also more athletic than a dead tree. I also didn’t randomly slip off when going fast on motorcycles and race quads.

This guy isn’t the standard.

Edit: I had a good conversation with someone who shared that a TJ driver died because he wasn't strapped in and his head got crushed between his rig and a rock. Not ideal. Rather than modify or erase my previous words, I'd like to share that I better understand now. I was influenced by previous motorcycle wrecks and seeing videos of rigs rolling down mountains (fuck that). However, there are other risks to consider especially when major forces are in play and driving a rig that weighs much more than a race quad or motorcycle. Some additional reflection has allowed me to re-think my opinion on this. Stay safe out there.

Did you ever slam into another object while going fast on motorcycles? Belts aren't there for when everything is fine. Why do harnesses exist?

Just saw this after updating my post. Short answer, yes I have.

That said, you don't wear a belt on a bike because it wouldn't make sense to do so. That's not the case when riding inside a vehicle that provides additional protection.

I was just a bit late in updating this due to being busy. I mainly wanted to update my post so I don't hurt others with my ignorance.

My point wasn't in the false equivalency of a jeep vs bike wreck, rather it was to point out the speed and danger of being flung out of something.

I'm glad you've changed your opinion. I've unfortunately seen too many shit shows due to this and wanted to clarify to others of it.

For anyone who stumbled upon this: wear a damn seatbelt. Being uncomfortable is better than us dragging you out in a bag.
