I have not seen this cargo rack before

I'm still ruminating on a cargo solution. Checking again on Amazon, I came across a rack that I had not seen before in my searches. I'm wondering if anyone has used it or one of a similar configuration on a TJ roof, or has any knowledge of it.

It attaches to the rain gutters over the front windows and to the hinges on the rear window. This gives me pause, but that may be unwarranted. Reviews are overwhelmingly good, but one review (out of many) commented that with the attachments under the hinges on the rear window, the window would not close tightly enough to make a seal. (I have read enough Amazon reviews to know that sometimes complaints are due more to consumer incompetence than product defects, buy this does make sense.)

Any thoughts? Feedback appreciated ...

Cost from AmazonUS is about $250usd. I'll have to pay about $650usd to have Amazon import it. That's a helluva markup, but driving to the border would end up costing the extra $400usd anyway, so I guess it evens out.

There is a similar looking one available on another Mexican vendor site that sells for about the same, but it looks to require poking holes through the roof, something I do NOT want to do.

ETA: Heading up to a friend's ranch for a couple of days, so I'll be incommunicado until Friday or Saturday.

Pretty much everything is Chinesium now days. That's not my concern. Just wondering if anybody has used this particular configuration and how it rides.

The manufacturer is Hooke Road. I don't know much about the company, but they have a wide range of off-road gear. The rack is on their webiste, here.

The one I linked to was a mistake. I had two in my browser, that YZONA model and a Hooke Road version. The Hooke Road version is what I am interested in. Hooke Road has a website.

Uh, yeah, that's the kind of thing I'm looking to learn.

I made a mistake. The one I linked to is the YZONA version. The Hooke Road version is what I am interested in. They are different. (Corrected that in the OP.)

But thanks for calling my attention to that issue. Of all the reviews I have read on the Hooke Road model, only one mentions that as a problem. (And I find that when there is only one mention of an issue like this in multiple reviews, it's usually a problem with the installer or the installation rather than the product itself.) The rest say that there was no problem with installation. I have contacted the vendor to question the matter. The newer model Wranglers use a similar attachment system (a friend has one on a JK) and this is not a problem.

At any rate, it is most likely that in the photo you posted the rack was either photoshopped on top of the Jeep or was just placed there provisionally for the photo. If you look closely, you'll see that the rack is actually just lying right on top of the roof, no space underneath. With an actual, proper installation, there would be at least an inch or so between the bottom of the rack and the roof. So, common sense tells me that this is not how it fits. Bad positioning, but I seriously doubt that that is the way the rack installs. The bracket does not even line up with the rain gutter.

My question to you is, Why "the hell" so wound up over a simple "frickin'" question? Chill out, dude! I'm just trying to see if anybody else here has used a similar setup, that's all. Maybe I am not as bright as you, so I am grateful for your insight! Thanks!

ETA: Budget is kind of a non-issue. I would have to pay through the nose to get it down here. I simply have to have the extra space. The way I work (the Jeep is a work vehicle), I need the extra cargo space, so I'll roll with whatever I can get. I asked the vendor if they can ship down here and what it would cost. The vendor offering it on AmazonMX is based in Istanbul, so there's that. Not gonna go there.

I have the Hook Road grab bars and they're cargo rack in place of my rear seat. They fit great and are pretty stout.
