The plug in device on the left is a temp and voltage indicator, it was supposed to have a USB port, but did not. The newly added device shows voltage and has two high output USB ports. It was 31.3 degrees this morning. I will be adding switches for running light later.

Hi There! First time I am posting. Longtime reader and beneficiary of everyone else's knowledge. I have that exact dash and would like to place a similar device in the same spot. I need little help understanding the wiring part of things. What do you tap into?

Are you near Stockton with the name Riverkat :)

I replaced the cigarette lighter/power point in mine with the blue sea dual USB outlet. Great mod and no cutting needed.

You will need to tap into the wires. No biggie. Here are two options. There are multiple color choices for the lights, I matched mine to the stereo and dash lamps. You can get one with a digital voltage readout as well. I think the voltmeter is more a gee whiz feature, but some may want it. Very simple to install and it will get used. BTW, tap into the keyed power, not the constant supply as the little led would be a current draw. If you don't already have a test light, the below option is what I use. That light is one of the more often used tools in my arsenal. I also prefer connectors and shrink tubing to electrical tape. I use the electrical tape after everything has been adequately connected and insulated. I am not a big fan of shorts. I still solder wires as well (depending on the situation).

I can’t recall, I may have cut off the plug for the lighter and added spade connectors but I don’t remember.
Do you by chance remember which wire was your positive and negative? I'm assuming red/green is positive and black is negative but I would like to be 100% sure lol

Also was there any trick to getting that damn lighter out of there? Lol

Sorry it’s been too long ago. I don’t remember the details.
