Interior Windshield Frame Plastic Trim

I have a 2005 TJ, with a 2001 windshield frame. I'd like to install the interior plastic trim which I found used. I know the holes don't line up, but I was wondering, who thinks I could situate the trim in place with 2 sided tape, and then drill some pilot holes using the holes in the trim as a guide? Or use self tapping screws? I know I need new visors, and center loop, just trying to finish it off.

don't think there's any other way to do it to get the holes in the right place. go for it and report back, i might be doing the same thing but would most likely use rivnuts instead of self tapping screws.

Hi Jerry! I have read your replies to countless other posts. So thanks for that! I seem to be getting water inside the door during moderate to heavy rain, was wondering if finishing all that off would provide a better seal. I do like the look of it without it, it's all freshly painted, so I get a little bit of color up there instead of the alternative. Thanks!

It wouldn't/doesn't help it seal any better, it's not close enough to the door seal for that. It's there strictly for looks. Could your door just not be properly aligned with the door opening? If so the hinges can be loosened a tad to allow it to be centered better.

I think 3M VHB tape would be more than enough. You could forgo the screws.

Have you sat in the Jeep and watched for water intrusion as someone is spraying the Jeep with water from a garden hose?

Not to say it isn't the doors, but it may save you some time and trouble to be in it and have it sprayed to see if you can pinpoint the location of the problem and work your way towards a resolution from there.

Ok, I'll save myself the trouble.

I've found that a little goes a long way with aligning these doors. I think it's sitting good. But I did notice that the driver's side door topper just wasn't getting good contact with the door surround. I'm going to try to bend the posts on the bottom a little to see if it pulls it in a little better.

Yes, I do need those. The whole windshield situation is kind of a frankenstein. I have the 01 windshield frame, and a 03-05 cowl seal. That seal has a bit of a bump out on the bottom, presumably for the 03-05 plastic interior trim to set in. Not sure if these will match up with that. Not a big deal, just an annoyance.
