Is "12VoltGuy" outta business?

Ohm, he might just be taking a break.

He is being charged with battery against Atom at the current time. It happened on the high-side of his duplex so they're saying it's his fault. Even though resisting didn't help, I still don't think he had much to gain. I find the issue to be very polarizing, so I'm glad we have an outlet to talk about this. I hope the situation is rectified soon. The news should have an exclusive or something.

Now where do I find the switches to add to the panel ? Off to do some searching.

I used CH4X4.com Carling switches in green. Their website is a train wreck. I ordered the switches from Amazon.

I wired everything to a relay panel.

For wire...well...I do volunteer trash pickups in the woods near my house...I drove out and stripped the wiring harness off a Honda that's been sitting in a spot for three years while we wait for permission to tow it...

I used that same exact relay box, how did you manage to mount it there?

Reviving an old thread only because I've been trying to track down an answer...

There's a lot of speculation that the owner of 12VoltGuy has passed recently (source: internet detectives on his Facebook page). Whether or not that's true, it's clear he's no longer doing business at this point.

I pursued 12VoltGuy for his TJ specific winch switch plate. Since I can't buy from him, my research turned up a very similar product: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1552994341...d=link&campid=5337789113&toolid=20001&mkevt=1

Hopefully that helps out some folks in the same position.

That's too bad - but it would explain why he suddenly dropped off the face of the earth - because he did literally. May he Dance In Joy if that's the case.

Nice find!

I too had ordered a winch panel just when Covid hit and I never heard from him.

The last I had heard when I tried to get in contact with the guy was that somebody had put in an oder and heard nothing. Then finally requested a refund through PayPal or whatever and then the order showed up.

But given the overall quality of his website, I would put him in the age group of people who when they go dark, its reasonable assume they've joined the choir invisible.

I was one of the people who ordered (in early July 2021), never heard anything, tried communicating via email (unsuccessfully), and finally requested and received a PayPal refund in early October 2021. At the time, PayPal noted that he never responded to them, either.

According to my "Internet P.I." activities, the dude's name is/was Darren Sinkey. He was born in 1965. His wife is/was Glenda Sinkey. He lived, at that time, in Oroville, CA, and he was very active in the 4WD community. I'm not a social media guy, but I did see a FaceBook page for Darren Sinkey that looked like it was his. Once I got my money back, I lost interest in trying to find out what happened to him.

I just searched for an obit for "Darren Sinkey" and didn't find one. If he died, it's odd that no loved one has put anything up on his various Internet sites about his demise. Also, it's odd that someone's still paying his hosting fees...

Long term commitment, paid in advance usually saves money. It is interesting (but perhaps meaningless) that his .com domain was registered differently from his .net domain. Hope everything is good with him, but if not, I would have loved to inherit that business and upgraded the website & gotten ahead of the customer service. He had good stuff.

Its gonna be interesting to see if either lasts out the year, both domains expire this year. We'll see if they get renewed.
