Is a TJ with this sort of rust even worth further inspection?

hello, is a situation like this even worth considering a further inspection?

I would think so. Although one picture of the rear axle isn’t much to go on. Because that’s a Dana 44 rear axle I would go for further inspection

Seems like a lot of rust for something located in UAE.
Did it spend a lot of time on the beach?

Looks like everything has been painted black to hide rust. Even the tcase is painted. The trackbar mount looks to have been repaired at some point too (though it could just be the picture)

Considering you're from the uae, and aren't used to rust i would assume... but that doesn't look that bad to me. As others have said, lets see the more common rust prone spots.

Show us the frame rails, not just the axle.

Chris, do we have a "is this rust bad" resource with some advice about best places to look? Like how to check the inside of the frame, or between the frame and the skid plate, etc.?

Hi guys, gathered additional pictures of the frame. These are the images I could retrieve. Apologies for not posting them in the first place.

As per the owner he had the frame sand blasted and painted to protect it from rust. Some spots were scratched off the paint to find the vin number during a registration inspection.

Car has 174k km, 2005 4L, with NV3550 five-speed manual transmission installed, old man emu 1.5 or 2.0 lift ( any clue from picture if it’s 2 inches?), Luk heavy duty clutch updgrade, K&N Air Filter System.

Driving it it definitely steered towards the left and a bit of a wobbly feeling. It’s my first TJ hence I’m not sure how bad that is.

Let me know your thoughts.

@Gia that is a very clean Jeep. Funny or rather odd that the frame is so clean yet the rear axle looks like someone shot it w a bullet. See attached pic, because I can't tell if its an optical illusion- but what's going on where I circled it? Otherwise it appears to be super clean! Nice Tj.

I get the feeling that the rear axle is a swap from something else, and the bullet hole you marked out is likely a bracket that was cut off with a torch, and wasn't really ground smooth; and the repaint either wasn't done at all or was done poorly. But that's just a wild guess.

The underbody, shocks and spring perches are certainly rattle can painted. But you can see (least I imagine) from the photos that the frame isn't molded foam or thick coated, rubber paint crap.
