Is it as easy as changing shocks to improve the ride

At some point of overinflation, the tire will pop.

Before that happens, the road handling will suffer and tire wear will be uneven. However, the fuel efficiency might improve some amount.

So a tire that’s tread pattern is perfectly flat with the road is over-inflated? Toyo RT is rated at 80 cold. How can less than half of that be inflated too much? Tires have about 10k on them. Rotated with the spare. No cupping at all. Normal wear. They’re still perfect.

Proper tire pressure is directly related to the weight on them. Numbers on the sidewall are meaningless except to tell you what is too heavy for its construction

Don't know, don't care. Your example does not include tire size or vehicle weight. Larger tires require lower psi to support the same weight compared to a smaller tire. Pounds per square inch.

I have been through several sets of tires on my Jeep. And I have been all over the pressure map, both on purpose and through happenstance. For a multitude of considerations, I have always gravitated back to a fairly consistent street pressure that is also fairly consistent with the other experiences here. That has never once been 36-38 psi, even when the tires were smaller.

If his tire has a max psi of 80 my guess it’s E rated. Which is a tire more suited for a larger/heavier truck.

Tires don’t dictate the psi, it’s the weight of the vehicle they are installed on.

Look at your door jam and see what the factory called out for psi. I’m not sure on a rubicon, but my guess it’s about 30psi for the stock tires, which a larger tires usually requires less psi for the same weight.

In my case I run 35 load range c at 26psi

As other have said, that is the MAXimum rated load and pressure for the tire. It's even printed on the tire, first word. Don't exceed that.

Since you made that statement, have you actually measured tread depth? I'll bet the center is down lower than the shoulder.

At max pressure for nearly all the tire options in the chart linked below each tire can support ~75% or more of the total weight of a TJ

I think this is the tire, unsure on size

Just to add, if you want to math it out, this is a Toyo Open Country in 35x12.5-17 LR E.

So, the Max load is 3195 at 65 psi. If you only have 1200 Lb per corner, then you would only need 24 psi to support that amount of weight (3195/65 = 1200/ x)

To add more, mine weighs 4400lbs with a near perfect 50/50 distribution between the axles. This is 1100lbs on each tire, give or take a small amount. If Toyo is to be my guide, I should be using a lower psi than my normal 25psi street pressure.

BTW, you need tuned springs from DPW DPG. Shocks have minimal impact on your ride.......💩

FIFY. Last time around when he posted, we all tried to have a conversation with that jackass and we suffered. If comes back on the forum again, this time I will point and laugh. That thread was so goddamn dumb. Same goes for some other select people that spew their stupid ideas around.
