Stock air intake is preferred, consensus is an aftermarket CAI will not get you more HP no matter what the seller claims.
The best CAI for a Jeep is the one you don't buy and/or the one you throw in the trash and replace with a properly fitted OEM intake with quality air filter.
Best thing you can do is change to a 4.0 air tube https://wranglertjforum.com/attachments/718ead39-dfe7-4bb5-bf49-1d3ffd63e364-jpeg.214299/ The air box flows more than enough air for the 2.5.
Oh wow! Ok. I didn’t know.
And what about my straight pipe situation? Is it giving me better mileage, or is that also trail legend?
The Jeep is already straight piped (previous owner), and I might like some more HP
I'm interested. Why is that an improvement?

Well, that ain't gonna get you any. lol
Honestly I did it to unclutter the engine compartment. But the 2.5 intake tube is designed to cancel noise and does that by manipulating the airflow so if there is any chance there is restriction the 4.0 airtube eliminates it. Are there any real gains from it? That I can not tell you but it sure is better than wasting money on a CAI and the only downside is the chance of a little extra noise.
Sorry that I'm hijacking this thread a bit, but is that why the box over the throttle is so bulky? I know that the tube is designed to eliminate noise, with that extra chamber on the side of the tube, but I also wondered about that box.
