Is there a poor mans way of getting rid of surface rust?

I've had decent results with this stuff in the past. Comes in liquid and gel.

I'll be picking some of that up in the spring. I saw it in a comparison video of rust removers (below) and it performed pretty damn well.

Blackstar, I just redid the bed & frame on my older Toyota. You can paint right over it.
