It’s the Journey, Not the Destination

We wheeled sections 4&5 of the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route this last week. Ostensibly our final destination was Conconully, but we really weren’t in any kind of hurry. Three Jeeps, one Dodge, four humans and two dogs. The Dodge gets a pass, it was driven by our mechanic friend that works on our Jeeps when it’s something beyond what we can fix. Plus he has the innate ability to find the perfect campsite. 🤣
Saw a lot of beautiful country, detoured around the 25 Mile Fire, breathed in a lot of dust and ate some good food. We turned back for home when we reached Highway 20 versus continuing north to Conconully as we were out of time. The good times with friends and family was the goal, not the destination. Mission accomplished.

Looks great! did you map that on Gaia? I need to get over to that side!
We do use Gaia, along with TrailsOffroad. The main routes of the WABDR can downloaded from ridebdr.com. When I created the route for this trip I used the downloaded routes as a guide and overlaid ours, diverting for trail closures and whatever access we used to link up with the BDR as there are several ways to it from where we live. The photo I posted is of the actual round trip track we did, when I remembered to restart the track recording. That’s why there’s a couple gaps here and there because CRS happens.

It’s not like Everett is far. Your only a couple hours away from all these trails. Hell, you can pop over Stevens, take Smithbrook/Rainy Creek NFDR 6700 road and come out on the north end of Lake Wenatchee then back south to US2. Easy day round trip.

That is when it’s open. Part of its closed this fall for the Nason Fire.

Everett isn't far at all, definitely interested. Gonna have to look into this more!
