We wheeled sections 4&5 of the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route this last week. Ostensibly our final destination was Conconully, but we really weren’t in any kind of hurry. Three Jeeps, one Dodge, four humans and two dogs. The Dodge gets a pass, it was driven by our mechanic friend that works on our Jeeps when it’s something beyond what we can fix. Plus he has the innate ability to find the perfect campsite.
Saw a lot of beautiful country, detoured around the 25 Mile Fire, breathed in a lot of dust and ate some good food. We turned back for home when we reached Highway 20 versus continuing north to Conconully as we were out of time. The good times with friends and family was the goal, not the destination. Mission accomplished.
