Jeep “chokes” a little bit after I crank and drive but is fine after

97 TJ. 2.5 manual. Every time I crank it and start to drive, it’ll “lope” like it’s about to die for a few seconds then will be fine. Anyone have any idea what this might be?

Check the idle air controller if it has one , and clean the throttle body.

I don't know a ton about that engine, but it's warm up/fuel related from how you describe it.
 
⬆️ This. The computer uses a different set of parameters when the engine is cold. Then switches to using the O2 sensors to dial in the fuel and timing.
