Made the drive up to Silver Lake for Jeep Invasion. We stayed at the Jelleystone campground and tent camped. Took my 11 year old daughter again with the Jeep loaded up for the four day trip. We took more time this year to participate in the sunset cruises to the dunes each night and the parade, that included 1006 Jeeps, into the dunes. They were set up much better this year with vendors and things to do. We learned more about the little Jeep this year and how to get the most out of it climbing the dunes. We talked to an old timer and he told us which gear to run in (4 low, 3rd gear) and we dropped our tire pressure from 12 down to 8 PSI. Huge difference. We drove right past a lot of new JL’s, JK’s and Gladiators that were stuck in the sand.

Made the 800 mile round trip with no issues and got 18.5 MPG.

Also got to see an endangered Piping Plover (bird) on the beach and ran into a DNR intern who let us tag along as she observed the bird. There are only 30 or so pairs left on the Great Lakes.
