Holy!:love: What a beautiful LJ build.

This LJ has to be one of the top 3 LJ builds I have seen online. The attention to detail is amazing as seen in these pictures and this walk around video. I cant imagine seeing it in person. Id be drooling over it for hours like a creep.

Uses GenRight's "Tracer" suspension kit. The kit's name is derived from this suspension being a Trail Suspension designed from the winning GenRight 4500 Class Ultra4 Race Jeep. The Trail/Racer blend, hence the "Tracer" kit name.

GenRight's Tracer kit:
  • Stretches the wheelbase from 103" to 115" with Gen Right's 23 gallon fuel tank.
  • Increased up travel by 3.5", for lower overall ride height.
  • 14" travel 2.5" Coil over shocks on each corner.
  • 2" Air bumps on each corner.
  • Bind free 3 Link front suspension (plus a trac bar).
  • Triangulated 4 Link rear suspension.

That thing is so badass! Not only does it perform well, but it looks damn good as well. I'd love to be able to buy something like that already built for me. One day...

Unreal, I noticed the belly skid wraps up around the frame and bolts to the outside, very clever. Thanks for sharing...

There is a particular build philosophy behind it with certain priorities that shift the balance of how things function.

We seriously need to come up with a derogatory and catch name for that philosophy.

Also - and I'm not picking on the OP, here - that's about as far from an "overland" build as you can get. The tires are comically oversized, there's very little room for gear and storage, there's zero room for a spare tire (much less a second spare), the fuel capacity is insufficient for long-distance travel, and most of the work that's been done makes the vehicle extremely impractical for anything except what it does in the posted images. Does it look cool? Yes, it looks cool. Does it drive and wheel nicely? Probably. Is it an "overland" vehicle by any rational use of the term. Absolutely fucking not; in that arena, this thing is a complete joke.
 
What am I missing? It looks like the belly skid is bolted to mounts that are welded to the bottom of the frame?

It's just a crossmember/skid that hangs below the frame. Pretty clear shot in the third and the last images. I don't think you're really missing anything.
 
Please elaborate. I'm genuinely curious.

First, I do want to go on record saying that I sincerely think that this GR thing is a clean and lovely build.

Let's start with the overland description. Is that what it is? If not, what is it?

Another point to study is in the fitment of the 14" coilovers. What are our best guesses for the up and down travels?

I'm pretty sure that I phrased it that way, yes...and the more I've reflected upon that conversation, the more accurate I find my analysis.

To address your question about the coilovers and the uptravel: the short answer is that I don't know, because the only pictures of any uptravel at the wheels are showing one side stuffed and the other dropped, so any estimate I'm making is an extrapolation based on articulation. It looks like the rear tire can stuff on one side or the other, and without track bar bind it would be nice to think that they can get a large part of that articulation in honest uptravel...but the front is another matter. It's clear that they can also stuff one tire or the other to the fenders there, as well, but I don't know how far they can go directly up: I can see the PSC box and the track bar hiding behind the drag link, and it looks like it's only a few inches above the diff cover. That's more than enough room for porn-star flex - I think my original phrase was "like a hooker on Valium" - but it doesn't leave much room for the entire axle to move upwards. Downwards obviously isn't a problem, though: in one shot, the passenger tire is easily down by 10"-ish inches.
 
I just don’t like GR stuff...can’t put my finger on it, but I never have. I hate the tube fenders, and I never was into the crawler look. I wouldn’t picture this as an overland rig, but who knows. Cool find tho.

IMO, tube fenders take away from the true TJ/LJ look. I don't like them, but I don't have a problem if someone has them.

From what I understand, GR highline fenders are among the best for adding clearance.
