Jeep shutting off abruptly

I have a 2005 wrangler TJ with a 4.0. I got it running a while back. And while driving it just went dead gauges and all no code. Let it set a few minutes drive a little ways shut off. So I changed the fuel pump hoping that was it. And I got it running today. Started and ran great. About 10 minutes in it just dies no stumbling just dead and no code. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Crank/cam sensor possible. A lot of people have issues with crank sensors on the 4.0, so make sure you get a Mopar sensor. Make sure your fuel pump relay and fuse are seated.

3 weeks ago I got stuck on the side of the road. Kept stalling, dead in the water. Got out, removed relay and fuse and reseated them, got home with no issues after that. Still replaced the fuel pump as I knew it was original because it loved to not start when warm (check valve).

Not a bad idea. Don't just throw the parts cannon at it though. Could be PCM or charging related. Do some more digging.

When the TJ shuts off; to confirm the problem is or isn’t the CPS. Pour a little cool water on the CPS and try to start the engine. IF the engine starts; the problem is your CPS (Hall Effect sensor) with too much resistance to work properly. These are symptoms of the CPS going bad and the cool water solution will only work so many times before the CPS not longer works.

Your PCM is on the way out. 05, 06 PCMs are junk. Had the same problem about a yr ago.

@Wranglerfix has the solution in an adapted PCM that doesn't have these problems.

Wouldn't hurt to check for frayed wires where harness runs behind passenger side of engine.

@TimBoteler When the pcm is failing you will get loss of gauges, faulty 02 sensor codes and stalling while driving. This happens a lot more with 6 speed Jeeps. If you do have a manual, you can get it up to operating temperature and tap on the pcm with a screwdriver handle and it should die or sputter on you. A loss of communication is other common symptom which I call the Cool Hand Luke code..."What we got here is a failure to communicate!"
