Okay, I was going to suggest grinding down the tab on each light, that would have been what I did. I'm just surprised that of all the people who have installed these, no one once has said anything about this. I hope one of those guys sees that I tagged them in this and chimes in!

Ohhhhh... is this a JK we are talking about? I thought we were talking about a TJ. That might be it.

Sorry for the delayed response. Mine were a direct replacement, not issues at all.

Stupid me... I didn't notice it until now, but @Rocco has a JK, that's why!

Looks like they're almost a direct fit for a JK, you just have to grind off a little tiny bit. Go figure! I was going to say... No one I know has had any issues with them fitting on a TJ.

The application on the specs page states they fit cj and jk models. Being required to have and use a grinder is a joke

I guess the JK headlamp retainer bucket must be ever so slightly different than the TJ. Not by much, but apparently enough that you just have to grind off that little edge of the light.

Bit the bullet and bought the JW Speaker 8700 Evo J2's. I had these on my JK and thought they were incredible, so I'm expecting them to be equally great on this rig. Now if I could only find replacements for the retaining ring screws I lost at the local hardware store......

They are awesome, you'll be happy!

I would think any ACE would have those screws!

Two hardware stores and Napa (and the jeep dealer) and no luck...must be a bad week for small screws.
Wow, I’ll say so! My ACE has just about every piece of hardware one could ever want.

Thanks for all the good info here. I just purchased and installed the recommended cheaper “Amazon Lights” on my ‘97 TJ. No issues with fitment and I agree that the lights are better than stock, especially the high beam. Good match to the TJ front end. I’ve now got 100% led lighting on this old Jeep :)

I found the headlights cheaper than Amazon on eBay http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...0001&campid=5337789113&icep_item=262208229912

Any idea how these compare to upgraded H4 headlights?

I did Cibies with Phillips X-treme Vision 60/55 bulbs last summer. The improvement over factory were great but I’m still not 100% happy especially compared to the lights in our DDs.

Those will give you better light output than the H4 Halogens for sure. They have the almost the same output as the Truck Lites, which is pretty darn amazing.
