Jeep Wrangler TJ LED Headlight Upgrade Options

I don't think this is as pronounced of an issue as many think.

My LED headlights definitely generate heat, no question about it. It's not as much heat as a halogen, but it's definitely there, and all you need to do is put your hand against the lens to feel it.

The new Jeep Wrangler JKs and JLs come with LED headlight options from the factory, and none of them have heated lenses. I believe this is due to the fact that the engineers know that they do generate heat indeed. If they didn't, why would the LED housings have huge heat sinks on the back side of them?

Anyways, it's not going to be a hot as a halogen like I said, but there is definitely heat there, no question about it.

Thanks Chris! I may just bite the bullet after we move. Fortunately the risk in the <$100-$150 options is fairly low.

It is indeed very low. And it's like I always tell people: A good flashlight is better than the factory headlights.

they look like cheap knockoffs, probably get the job done though but would rather pay the same money for a solid build with less uneaded features if i'm on a budget.

I hear ya, I find these look somewhat like the JL LED lights. I'm not too fond of the LED lights that have like 7 different circles on them etc, looks too tacky.

The one however you linked in the video looks pretty clean and advanced?

Quadratec LEDs on flash sale for a couple days FYI

Actually, do you allow posts like that here? Sorry if not, I have no affiliation, just passing it on.

I bought a pair of LED headlights off ebay i believe they are copy.of trucklite. Can anyone advise which side should be up?

Just FYI. Every seller on ebay that I contacted said the lights did not come with the proper adapter for our Jeeps. SO you'll have to buy an adapter. I was gonna go the ebay route. But I think I'll stick with the ones on Amazon. I think they'd have a better warranty program too. I've never returned anything to an ebay seller. But feel confident I could do that on Amazon. Maybe I'm wrong. I buy about 95% of my stuff off of ebay. But these lights just seem better bought from Amazon. All the sellers on ebay did not seem to know much if anything about their lights.

FWIW I bought these off of Amazon. They plugged right in and fit perfectly. Bright, even light distribution, Under $100. New to me but no complaints yet. Heaver than the stock lights. Seem well made. They came with an adapter plug for Hummers I think, but the stock TJ wiring plugged right in. If there were any negatives it would be the plugs don't "lock" or click, so I simply wrapped electrical tape around the plugs to ensure they wouldn't come loose. Only other thing is the lens is hard plastic material not glass. I have no idea if this is the same as most other LED headlights but so far so good. No flicker or radio interference whatsoever.

I've been running these LED taillights for about 3 years now:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01774OVY2/?tag=wranglerorg-20

Those things are bright as hell, they look just like stock, and they are one of the best "cheap" mods I've done. Seriously, the difference is night and day with those things, they're so friggin' bright that no one can miss you. Even the reverse lights are so bright that you'd feel like you have a light bar in the back!

If you get LED taillights, you'll need this LED flasher relay:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KQUZHRA/?tag=wranglerorg-20

It's easy to swap your stock one out for, and it will make it so you don't have any "hyper blinking" like you normally get with LEDs.

The best looking LED fog light replacements I've been able to find so far (there don't seem to be many for our TJs) are these ones:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY54MSX/?tag=wranglerorg-20

1) Where does the flasher relay get installed in the fuse box?

2) And what bulbs (I assume LED is not available) for the stock fog lights?

3) If I buy these ebay trucklite knockoffs. Which adapter do I need? They don't come with one. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...0001&campid=5337789113&icep_item=153070854450

Still deciding between the Amazon version and the Ebay version of the trucklite knockoffs. I have a some money in paypal that I need to spend on my Jeep. Good problem to have. I know. lol.

It doesn't get installed in the fusebox. It gets installed under the steering wheel column trim cover. Takes about 10 minutes to install.

Any H3 LED bulb would work, such as these ones:

No adapter is needed, they plug right into the stock harness.

They're the exact same thing, made by the same place in China. They're all the same. You may see 15 different headlights that look the same, just under a different brand name. This is because they are all the same. Different sellers are just white labeling them under their own brand name.

No difference whatsoever.

Thank you! I knew I'd have a solid answer in like 5 seconds flat. Your the best! :)

Does that relay replace one thats in there? Or is there a blank socket for it?

For sure getting the ebay version of those lights then. $35 is alot of paint for my interior. :)

No problem, happy to help!

The LED flasher relay replaces the one that is in there. It's just a simple plug-and-play once you get the steering column cover off.

ARe you saying there's another generation of the Trucklite knockoffs?

These were linked previously, have a white strip across that acts as the DRL function, also turns orange on blinker (which appears useless and I probably wouldn't connect that part)

going through this, I noticed one thing. it it NOT a direct swap if you have a Canadian Jeep. Canadian jeeps require daytime running lights which puts a 6 volt power to the light during the day.

I ran into this on my sons jeep, you can use them, but it requires you to cut a sensing wire to make it work.
I will have to look at the schematic to verify which wire it was.

@Twopoint I feel that the canadian jeeps might be similar to GCC spec ones, but not sure. The pair of trucklite knock offs i bought plug directly in however there is no accessory/parking light. The original headlights had a seperate bulb for those which the new LED light dont have.

Is this similar to your issue?
