Hi Everyone,
I want to start a thread for Jeeptober 2024 (Buena Vista).
We are looking at October 5-6. Normally we run Chinaman Gulch every year but I'd like to change it up this year in order to honor Joe Richardson (BigWall) as he passed away in May.
The planned trails are Iron Chest and Grizzly Lake for Saturday and I'll leave it open to you all for Sunday as I won't be able to stay both days. Both trails are beautiful scenic trails although they do present challenges. Grizzly Lake has a big wall (pun intended) right at the beginning that is tough and may require winching. Iron Chest is full of large boulders after a forest service rework of the trail. It's not tough but it does present some challenges. There is a mine at the end of the trail.
Both of these trails are near St. Elmo for reference.
I would suggest 35's and one locker, along with a winch.
Everyone can meet at the Gun smoke at 0900 for a 0915 departure.
I have been in contact with Joe's wife Rosy and she's interested in going but was asking if somebody else could drive the Jeep on the trail as they have zero experience or desire to do so. If you might be interested, let me know.
With all of that out of the way, I'll let the thread develop with comments, ideas, or anything else that pertains to the trip.
