My 99 TJ is my 5th jeep. Got it in May to run beaches of Outer Banks and fish and camp with family. Except for the 31s, it's pretty much stock and will keep it that way. Nothing like a jeep in the sand!!!

Mine is a 3.07 rear axle ratio. The 31s ride great, smooth, quiet and true track, no bump or wobble. Nice grip in sand. If you don't have your original build sheet you can look it up here https://jeep.custhelp.com/app/jeep/eqlisting_detail/ and enter your vin and it will pull up your original build, showing all the specs that came from the factory with your jeep, including the gear ratio. If the link doesn't work just search jeep vin build sheet or something similar and it will pop up.

John, thanks to this resourceful forum, I did the research yesterday and came away wholly informed, but bummed about my rear gear ratio. (3.07, like yours). Now reading your reply, I have some hope I can attempt 31s! I've read otherwise, but may still consider. I really like the look of your ride. Thanks, John
