Kicker CS 5.25s too weak, any car stereo guys here?

The tweeter pod was from a guy who custom made them on Ebay, he would make them for the tweeter you want use.

The eBay is great assuming it is this one.

@CreepinDeth - look into components up front. Simple is the Kickers, but if you want more BLAM makes some high quality 2 ohm speakers that would be great for what you are looking for. Speaker pods you will have to buy.

you may need a 10" subwoofer as well...quick disconnect in the back could be done so you can easily get trunk space without a headache.

I'm running a Alpine PDX-V9(mounted under the steering wheel) 100RMSx4+500wattsRMS sub channel, with 4 CDT 5.25 150watt RMS (119.00 per pair) and a 10" dual molded MTX subwoofer box in the trunk. I've had the PDX-V9 for ten years without issues.
My Headunit is a Boss 10" Touchscreen BE10ACP single din with removable screen, Android Auto, Bluetooth, Rear Camera, Microphone.
Clarion EQS7 mounted into the spare 1/2 Din space to control the Input from the PDX-v9. I never even need to turn the Alpine above 1/4 to hear the stereo 15 feet outside the Jeep. The Alpine PDX-V9 is super clean as far as THD <1.0% at rated power. Users say it is the best Amp on the market. It never gets hot or shuts off. I also run wireless Android Auto with a cup holder charging Phone mount for my s22 Ultra. Friends are amazed at the volume and sound clarity of my system. These California made CDT speakers are awesome. I blew out the Kappa's barely turning it up. So, I went with CDT's 8 years ago, and never blew them out. I recently upgraded them to the 150 RMS version because I physically broke one of the tweeter mounts. https://www.cdtaudio.com/coaxials/es5ex1.php No speaker whine ever. This system Rocks, with no limits. I can't even sit in the Jeep, if I turn up the Alpine to half output. The Boss screen can actually slide down about 5 inches to not block the AC vents when needed. I got a glass screen protector for it to make sure the screen doesn't ever get scratched.

So I bought the Kicker CS series as recommended by many TJ videos, and fellow enthusiasts…..

However sadly, theyre nearly empty on the sound stage. Im powering ea of the 4 main channels with a 100Watt per ch RMS amp. I also have them in the $90 aftermarket Sound pods

Tried the Soundstream P4.1000 D class

Tried the Rockville Proton (80w x4ch)

I know a part of the issue is the 6.5” Skar TX65s in the rollbar pods are waaay overpowering them on the sound stage. Benefit of bein close to the heads of front occupants.

So Im sending all the Kickers back, and Im back on the hunt. The Polk D522s look about the same on paper, so lookin for some user input here who installed an amplifier and got a better 5.25” front to balance out the 6.5” in roll bar.

Im lookin at Components and Coaxials but thinkin a component might be better so as to put the tweeters top of dash for a better sound stage. Just need to keep it 4ohm

Anyone gor higher end speakers up front that can chime in on better amplified options??? Im lookin at Hertz components next, but seeking input

Yep the PDX amps are the <:&^!
The prices have gone up considerably since I purchased mine. The SQ guys have also discovered them, hence the prices. They are 2006 CEA compliant and if you purchased yours new it should have an output sheet showing it's rated output when it left the factory. They put out more than what it says on the box.
THe PDX-v9 is what I'm planning for the wife's Tacoma.

. And I spent a LOT of money on the stereo system on my Harley so I know all about chasing that rabbit hole.

Yep, same
Mmats marine rated 6.5s up front ~$200
Diamond Audio marine rated 6x9s in bags $~$300
Arc Audio 720watt amp in batwing $700

Plus wiring it all in
Every ride MUST have good tunes

The Jeep it CAN be done, its about speaker position
I think elevating tweeters at the driver will help

Im putting a 10” on the back door
Just havent made it there yet, thats this weekends tackle. Nothing crazy, just a self powered Rockville 10” because Im primarily into metal and rock, not hip hop and rap.

I am curious if I can fit it UNDER the rear seat
Not sure yet

Since adding midrange/tweeters to my sub box, I can't hear any of my other speakers.
p.s. Bass works great and is a must have for all rock music. Five Finger Death Punch, In this Moment and Falling in Reverse. 🤟DON'T buy expensive Off brand foreign crap either.

I might be crazy but I'm looking at a marine system, the kind that mounts to the boat tower on wake boats AK: roll bar. you can buy a complete system amp, speakers, woofer, and controller, with no head unit but it does radio and blue tooth. I want the ability to rotate the speakers pointed back when I have the back open at the beach.

The best thing about Metallica's And Justice for All is that the bass sounds exactly the same whether I have a sub or not.

That's only because your sub is lacking. Rock music drums need bass to hear them. Turn up your bass and listen.

My comment was a joke about Lars having Jason dropped completely out of the mix on that record and the fan speculation and criticism of that decision that only seems to have accelerated in the YouTube era. The truth is the kick and the mega-scooped and often palm muted guitar tone fills in the lower end perfectly adequately (in my seemingly minority opinion) and does call for a sub.

I might be the only one alive that knows what you're talking about. ;)
p.s. My vids are so much better. 😇

My dash speakers went from being non-existent to being crucial to my happiness.

I run a soundstream 5-channel amp to polk 5.25s in dash pods with some poly-fill and Polk 6.5s in the sound bar since that’s what size the PO previously had installed. I’ve been absolutely thrilled with the results for two years top down or windowless for 95% of the time listening to my music up to 75 mph before the wind eventually takes over.

My buddy was laughing at how awesome a song sounded the other night as we blasted tunes with the top down chasing fireworks. (The mountain/hill was on fire after one awesome finale).

Summary: I know the dash speakers can sound good, just needs to be set up correctly.

Something seems amiss with your results. Was your amp gain turned up properly up front (and crossovers set correctly)? Edit: Probably not an issue since you tried two amps.

Did you use properly sized copper power & ground wires? Do you have a good ground?

I used 4-awg power & ground wire to reduce voltage drop even though the amp called for something smaller (around 6 or 8 awg iirc). And I ran new speaker wire to reduce voltage drop.

Probably not necessary for your issue, but a Durango alternator provides me with 160 amps as well.

You should have been blasting those Kicker speakers if you gave them each 100W rms with the gain and volume turned up. The dash speaker locations are no problem for me. Anyone interested can come take a listen.

I found these but honestly dont have much better specs, but 2ohm

Up above I posted the BLAMS and where you should buy them through. I have bought from these guys multiple times, as well as some other forum members. My speakers came in less than 5 days from ordering.

I didnt catch the joke initially, but I did see the documentary where Lars was a wee bit of a dick move there when he did that.

Its no wonder Jason left, and a surprise he stayed as long as he did
