So, KOH stared before Lite Brite Nation?!!
Love this stuff! I had KOH on the garage TV for most of the weekend while I worked away ... and didn't get much done.
I raced in the C.O.R.R.A. series 50 years ago. Apart from what we learned at the races and from other guys we knew, our main information source was the monthly off road magazines. The Baja 500 wasn't that old then and some of our members actually got into some races. Our cars were primitive but we knew things would evolve. We saw something new at the start of every season. I'm not shocked by what I see today. I like to think that if they had a geezer class I could resurrect our team.

Thats a great video. Brings back a lot of great memories. Had been running down there since the early 2000s, and a friend of mine called me up in 09 and said "hey Im gonna do this KOH thing can you help me out?" I was on vacation with the fam in Yellowstone and old faithful was getting ready to do its thing so I had to call him back 😄
The weekend before KOH 2010 Im in Chris Ridgeways garage with Dave Cole during a snow storm helping with their car. When I'm supposed to be prepping my friends car.
We did racecar stuff with our Offroad Design peeps, ate rice off my trailer, I changed a broken 205 output in car, had a magnesium runflat campfire, did 1400mph+, promised not to do dumb shit in my station wagon because we had to chase in the morning (and ran Back Door with it anyways lol), and ran out to the bottom of sun bonnet to do recovery at the end of the day.

I did! I was 20 and had been building and fooling around with off road cars for a few years before that. Along with 2 friends we built 3 identical cars and entered the C.O.R.R.A. series. The promoter named us and put us in the program as the "Big Three Racing Team" which was kind of funny at the time. We had to convince the veterans that we didn't come up with the name. For my first 2 years of racing I also played in the Ontario Provincial Lacrosse League and several times had races and games on the same day. It was tough but I wouldn't have given up either.
This is me with hair and a car under construction in the the Big Three Racing Team garage
along with a few at a track. Also included are a few from my "night job" at the time. My screen name PCO6 refers to my team and sweater number (front row kneeling ... same hair ... now gone). I was involved in lacrosse until my mid 60s but am happy to just spectate now.

Sponsorship in my case amounted to gas to and from the track plus for the races, general garage supplies like lubricants, etc., paint for the car and race entry fees. For a college kid on part time gas station wages it was greatly appreciated!

Very cool story - thanks for sharing. I played Ice Hockey into my 50’s. Only stopped because my local rink shut down. I miss it a lot.
I played hockey into my 30s. I miss hanging out with the guys as much as the game. Lacrosse was a bit different. I stopped at 57. It was just pick up (non-contact) and some of the guys were a third of my age. They were the ones I would have liked to hit!
