Colorado Krew Hangout

Three Vietnam guys are retiring, so the minimums to get into EMS is around 2000 hours. So it is feasible now.

There's just no money in helicopters, they max out at around $150k career wise.

Why do that when you can make more money less work, with out near the risk

I think he kind of likes the risk; he backcountry skis in avalanche terrain, used to fly ultralights or something similar. Also, airlines take you away from home 3-5 nights a week right?

I've actually never been on that trail

I think they added a gatekeeper at the entrance to prevent trailers getting in and modified some other obstacle. I've only done part of it, but it is very close to my house nowadays.

If my tires weren't shot I'd go check it out lol

I haven't been there in years. I don't recall it being a whole lot. But the parking lot had several trailered buggies in it.

When I went my jeep was basically still stock so I did not get far at all.

Don't really think would be a trail worth the drive for you guys in the metro area if you weren't already down here.

Never been on China Wall either. I think I tried to find it really early on when I first got my jeep but was unsuccessful.

Chinaman's (or wtf ever it's called now) reminiscent, in a miniature way, loop. Ran it 5x, last time being in '19. New restrictions every time. Wouldn't be surprised to see it taken over by gocarts by now. Most other trails in the area are swarmed with S x S. Was actually planning to check it out this weekend after visiting friends in Fairplay. I'll post up if it happens

Side by sides are everywhere now not just CO 😂 curious to know what you think. I'd say I'd meet you there but no clue if I'll figure out my tires by then

Went through China wall last month, it's better with the new optional obstacles they opened up, but that said, it's still a fairly easy run. There's a total of 2 new obstacles, which when combined with the original trail amount to 0 really challenging obstacles. I did let my son drive it when we went up, as kinda his first opportunity to run some obstacles, and he didn't have any issues.

I was up on Carter lake this morning watched it starting. It grew fast! Saw a ton of FD flying up that way

Been a while since I posted on here but thought this was worth sharing. Ran Yankee Hill today and it looks like the FS grated from the trailhead on the central city side up to past the shooting range. No idea if they're gonna keep going or not but the tracks looked like it'd been done in the past 24 hours and they still had their machines up there.

I sent an email to the ranger district to see if they're willing to give out any info on it, but that would make sense. It also kinda seems like the Feds are getting sick of dealing with OHV stuff so that might be playing a role too.

Post if you hear back. Slaughterhouse was all clear cut over last year, got scared that was for development but turned out to just be fire mitigation. Hopefully something similar

What is poughkeepsie like? Going to be nearby on a trip next week but not sure if my buddies jeep will be up to it?

It's been several years since I was there. The Jeep was on 33s with about 3" of lift and stock arms.

Poughkeepsie is rocky and bumpy, but not difficult. The Ledge may not be doable, but there is a bypass. Mine couldn't do it. Or I couldn't at the time.
