Well I just went on record with the Library of Congress.
My Father was interviewed by Fox News Channel 26 about his WW II exploits to be logged with the Library of Congress.. I backed them up with an official interview about his exploits. Joined Dec. 8 1941 age 17 and discharged 1947.
Hero in our lives, hero to me.
Bombarded he Japanese North Islands, Shot down 7 kamikazes, rescued 26 pilots, escorted many of the 300+ ships into Tokyo bay at the surrender and was there when the Japanese were done with the war.
BM1C, Mount 51 Captain, USS Wren DD 568, all around good guy at the age of 93. PITA Dad, good father, PITA old man,

What an honor! My grandpa has similar stories. He flew in the Army Air Corps with the Flying Tigers on the Pacific front. He passed away 10 years ago, but I have lots of his WWII photos and plenty of stories.

I'd be proud of your pops too. What an honor it is to have a father who has such a storied military career.
