Here is an update to work done on my Jeep yesterday. I spent about 3 hours under it. No fun. 32 degrees outside and raining. No fun on the garage floor! Here is what I found.
Forward upper control arms torque ok
lower forward control arms torqued to spec
forward track bar was loose on passenger side, torqued to spec
rear lower control arms torqued to spec
upper control arms bolts were only snug (loose, all 4), torqued to spec
Rear track bar, loose on both ends, torqued to spec.
Tightened skid plate bolts to 40 ft/lbs for now until I get middle fastener on drivers side insert replaced.
Checked transmission mount for tightness-ok
tightened all my mini cat bolts (torqued up good!) (not much)
Also noticed my drivers side brake caliper seeping. I ordered a rebuilt caliper from RockAuto to install next weekend.
Virtually everything with the exception of the front upper control arms was loose to some degree. All popping sounds now gone! This Jeep does not even drive the same anymore. I use to have what I called the "lateral shuffle", mostly all gone now. You can now feel the suspension working! Now mostly all fore and aft---up and down. Before I had this crazy side to side movement in the back (rear). Along with that, The ride inside has quieted down immensely. I can actually hear the stereo while driving without having to turn it up to 16+ on the volume knob. Some of that had to be from the skid plate. I wanted to Thank you folks for helping me out with this. You guy's really know these Jeep's!!!
I am also wondering if I shouldn't check torques on the gold colored links as well (pictures 1 and 3). Torque value?
Any other suggestions? Looks like whoever installed the lift kit really hadn't finished it up with torques.
I attached 4 pictures to see if anyone recognizes the manufacturer of this lift kits, and has a picture of the gold non-adjustable link.
Thank You
