I’m looking to buy a 2001 Sahara that’s in really great shape....only 57000 miles! Discription lists a “locking differential”. Was that an option in 01?

No. It may have a Traclok which is the factory limited slip.

Not even as an option. Only Rubicons have lockers as OE

There might have been an aftermarket locker added but as above, likely just the usual Traclock limited slip differential that some confuse with a locker which is a completely different beast.

No. The Dana 35's had them as well.

Thanks guys for the info! I called my local Jeep dealer and they ran the 01’s VIN #. It was built with the Dana 44 and has the 3:73 gears. So it’s a “limited slip” differential. They also told me the Dana 44 was std. equipment on the 01 Sahara. Go figure!
