Hi, I am looking for a reputable shop in the Snohomish\Monroe Wa area. I posted did ask about shops in my area in the local area section but didn't get any replies so hoping more folks will see it here.

I have a new to me, well...about a year new to me 2004 Sahara that needs a few things done. I took it in to the local Dodge dealer in town to get an O2 sensor replaced and had them do a used car inspection while they were at it. Everything looked good with the exception the front axel u-joints need replacing and there is a very small leak at the rear oil pan or rear seal. There were some other things they said needed fixing, reverse lights were out, estimate was $70 for that ouch. I replaced the blown fuse and all is well there.

The oil leak is really small but I want it fixed anyway. I feel the vibrations from the front end and I do feel play in the u-joints so they seem to be right they need replacing. The quote to do the work for axel u-joints and to do the oil pan gasket and rear seal was right at $1,100. Not sure if that is high but I know dealers tend to be pretty spendy so I was hoping someone form my area may know of a good shop to point me to to get this done for far cheaper..I hope anyway!

I know neither repair is really that hard, they are time consuming but not like rebuilding an engine. I just don't have the time or place do do either of them unfortunately.

I used to take my FJ40 to Olympic 4x4 but they have gone out of business which is a bummer since they were jeep specialists. Would truly appreciate any recommendations on a local shop that does good work on jeeps. Once I get it fixed I can finally start driving the jeep before summer is gone!!

Let us know how it goes. I am also new to Snohomish and looking for a good mechanic. In Redmond, I recommend Autosys. A bit pricey, but they do the job right.

Wanted to update my post. So I took my jeep to Olympic 4x4 in Snohomish. Took it in on a Thursday morning got it back Friday afternoon. Would have been same day but they ran into some issues from receiving a bunch of incorrect parts for a rig they had on the rack so I just told them to keep mine another day no worries at all. To his credit the owner Aaron said he would work into the evening to get mine done if I need the Jeep that day which I didn't.

When I went in to make the appt I could tell right off these guys loved 4x4s. Aaron is a great guy and he seriously knows jeeps. Jeepers go there, there was a line of killer JKs in the parking lot, the kind that get muddy...not mall crawlers... couple TJs and a nice CJ in a bay...definitely a Jeepers hangout for sure but they work on any make of 4x4.

When I went to pick it up Aaron ran me through what they did, walked out to my Jeep with me where he took the time to talk through the repairs and his observations on my jeep which was nice. It turned out the front axel u-joints the dealer said were loose on my inspection paperwork and I was told by the service manager needed replacing ASAP ...weren't bad at all. In the end all Olympic needed to do was replace the oil pan gasket\rear main seal. He said the Jeep was in great condition and a keeper...this jeep is very new to me so that is always good to hear.

So the $$ damage...

If I had gone to the dealer
1-Front Axel u-joints - $631.82
2-oil pan gasket\rear main seal - $790.68
=$1,422.50 + our lovely 10% sales tax = ouch!

Olympic 4x4
1-Front Axel u-joints - working fine no need to replace - $0.00
2-Oil pan gasket\rear main seal and check transmission and diagnosed other noises I was hearing. - $460

I am happy.
My experience over the years is that finding a good shop you can trust isn't easy, finding a good one that happens to specialize in your exact vehicle even harder. This was my first time in with my jeep but the whole experience was 100% positive and I would have zero concerns about doing all my Jeep repairs and parts buying at Olympic 4x4 and I would say anyone in the Snohomish county area would be doing themselves a favor to go in and at least talk to them about repairs you are thinking of getting done.

By coincidence, we drove by this place last weekend and took note of all the Jeeps out front. Thanks for the review!
I will definitely go there for my next Jeep work.
