Greetings: I’m new to this forum and new to Jeeps. Recently picked up a 2005 TJ manual transmission with the 4.0L. Replaced the front and rear bumpers and put 31” KO2s on stock rims. Planning on a winch in the near future and wanting to put a small lift since the shocks need replacing. Not planning any rock crawling but will certainly go off road and Oregon fire roads, plan to take to MT for next year deer/elk season. Looking for suggestions for modest lift of 2-3 inches. Plan on doing myself - I’ve done lifts on Land Cruisers and Tacoma’s so not too worried. But looking for solid ride for local driving and some extra room especially for mud in MT. Suggestions?

I run a OME HD kit and have had good luck with it though the nitrochargers ride pretty firm. People have had great luck with the Rancho RS5000x shocks for a softer ride.

I'd piece your own lift together... Based on adding a winch and your rear carrier & hard top I'd recommend OMEs Heavy Load springs + Ranchos.

You could keep the stock control arms, add an adjustable front track bar and rear track bar bracket

OME, Procomp, or BDS springs, Rancho RS5000X shocks. You'll want a track bar relocation bracket for the rear TB to center the axle after the lift.

Seems like we are in the same boat!
I think I will stick to what Chris is recommending, OME/ProComp with Ranchos.
Looking forward to see what you chose and how it goes!

OME with Rancho 5000x here too. Swapped out the OME Nitro shocks for a big improvement. Be sure to have load 'C' tires and 24-28 psi to make it ride even better.👍

Good morning,

New to the group. I have a 06 TJ, pretty much stock with the exception of JK wheels. Considering installing a 2" lift to provide a bit more space for the larger wheels/tires and to level out the Jeep. I'm 60, so my joints don't move like they used to. So will a 2" lift or leveling kit help? If so, any suggestions on which one to purchase?

Thanks for the help!

Another alternative route, based on your requirements, would be to run a set of 1" lift H&R sport springs (H&R 52107) , 1" Body lift, RS5000x shocks and, if needed, a 3/4" front spacer (for the heavy front bumper and future winch). You can then spend the savings on a ZJ steering upgrade and, if needed, adjustable HD front track bar.

The picture below is a previous Jeep on 31" tires with that setup, minus the 3/4" spacer. The ride was fantastic and there was enough room for suspension travel.

Another OME HD/Rancho owner here. I'm running 31" AT KO2s & have similar bumpers. No ride/clearance issues on road or off. It was a good suggestion for me.

This is helpful. Spacers say they don’t fit my 2005. True, not true? I’m an idiot so can you explain the need for track bar adjustment

thanks all. I ordered the OME, Rancho set up and track bar bracket for the rear and the front adjustable track bar. I am wondering if y’all had to compress springs when installing or not. Thinking ahead to the weekend I take on the project.
