Looking for thoughts on a used Superwinch x9

Someone locally is selling a used x9 for $300. It is unmounted and does not have a controller. He stated it works like new, but I have not gone to look at it.

I know these are discontinued so if something goes wrong is this potentially a throw away winch? I did see a few parts still available on their website

I plan on calling Superwinch tomorrow to see about a controller, not sure if they are universal or if that can even be replaced

I would prefer to buy a used quality product if I can, but not sure of the risks on this one. Thanks to any thoughts or insight you can provide

While no personal experience on the x9, my superwinch works well other than being slow. The clutch also only has one position where it will engage, so the drum has to be turned while engaging the clutch. Mine is uncovered on my daily and gets used multiple times a year. I'd run another superwinch if I came across it.
