Home Depot has a good price on a Stubby today if anyone is in the market.

Doh, just saw this, that is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks anyway, next time, good to post these. The one day I don’t look at this forum or YouTube.

I also follow this guy, he posts all the Home Depot and Acme Tools sales on his Community tab. And he did he yesterday and I didn’t see it until now, double doh:

Link is not working for me. That’s a good deal.

It was only available on Monday. Home Depot runs daily deals and includes Milwaukee tools several times a month. When I'm looking for a tool I just check their special buys each day.

Home Depot SBOTD Monday again!

This time it’s $150 for the M12 Fuel Stubby and 1 battery not 2:

When the 1/2 stubby impact is on sale I am getting one. My DeWalt 20v is so worn out it will barely take off a lug nut.

I use the M12 1/4” hex drive impact for everything And I love it. It’s great up to 100ftlbs. I use my big Craftsman 1/2” for all the bigger stuff and lug nuts. I couldn’t justify buying the stubby 3/8” because of it.

Now like you said, the next time the 1/2” stubby is on sale I’m buying one. I skipped out on a great deal last year and still kick myself for it.

I don’t know what I’d need the 1/2” stubby for. My 3/8 kicks ass on everything.

I would have it for the overkill I think. My buddy has the 3/8” as well and loves it. I couldn’t live without my 3/8” M12 ratchet.

I use my 3/8 stubby far more than my 3/8 ratchet.

Anything that needs overkill gets the 1/2 fuel impact. Nothing has stopped it that I’ve done.

My DeWalt was fine until I ran about 150 6” lags through a deck into a sill on a house I was selling. I should have gave it a rest, it was too hot to touch when I was done.

I know the 3/8 is good but I want the 1/2 so I can break off those stubborn bolts.

What are practical application differences of the 3/8” stubby impact vs 1/2” stubby impact?

Or is it just what socket sets you already have on hand, or handed down?

I’m just starting out with my first toolset for my 97 TJ. So I got the 3/8” stubby, and the 3/8” sae/metric deep silver socket set on sale on Monday, since some reviews said the deep socket set with the stubby is great for wheel lugs.

I already got the “cheap” $200 SBOTD sale set last month of M12 brushed 3/8” drill, 1/4” impact, sawzall, and the popular non fuel 3/8” ratchet I wanted for all my kayak trailer bolts

I figure for my 1st tool set, that brushed is OK.

Also if I already have the M12 3/8” rachet, I was figuring it could share the 3/8” deep socket set with the 3/8” stubby?

Or should I return the 3/8” stubby for the 1/2” later and not rush this?

I do remember my local Jeep shop mechanic using a 1/2” breaker bar and socket to deal with getting the huge T55 bolts off the front bumper, and then installing the big Grade 8 bolts that came with the top-of-bumper Curt hitch. I asked him what torque was used, showed me he pulled at hard as he could on the breaker bar for all the hitch bolts.

Would the 3/8” stubby impact been able to handle this instead? Or if I decide to uninstall the front hitch myself with the 3/8” stubby, is that feasible? Thanks Y’all

The motor on both the 3/8 and 1/2 stubby are identical. If your getting into bolt sizes that need a half inch socket you will probably want a bigger impact anyway. You can always use an adapter if you need to use a 1/2 socket. I find the stubby does most everything I need it to. It pops off my trucks lug nuts that get torqued to 150lbs without problem. Unless you already had a set of only 1/2 sockets the 3/8 stubby is a better choice. I've even seen a few comparison videos that claim the 3/8 hits a little harder due to the smaller anvil size.

Ok keeping the 3/8” stubby then, no buyer’s remorse, thank you.

What about the 3/8” grey shockwave, vs the silver square deep socket set I got on sale? Before I get into a full set, any reason to opt for for the shockwave stuff instead?
