I can in my DD YJ. Its just about perfect. Sometimes I find myself shifting at the same time the shift indicator illuminates without even trying. My DD is a ‘99 4.0 manual TJ. Just curious if any actually shifts according to the indicator on the instrument panel? I find that I can’t even get up to speed with the flow of traffic if I do!
It certainly sucked with the 30" factory tires my TJ came with from the factory. On factory sized tires and the 4.0L it’s timed pretty well for daily driving.
Doesnt seem to be working right. Mine comes on right before or right at 2k RPM.I don't know how much running 30s affects it, but mine comes on about half a second after stepping on the gas. By the time I get around to shifting the light has given up and turned off, lol.
Anyone know if you pull the instrument cluster can you remove the bulb?
As one of the previous post states, just cut some tape and place it over the dash...You wont ever see it come on again.I don't know how much running 30s affects it, but mine comes on about half a second after stepping on the gas. My 05 does not have one eitherI remember my 99 having one but my 06 doesnt

To me that's way too low of an rpm to shift at for typical Jeep size tires unless you're puttering around on small town streets where the speed limit is 25 mph.Doesnt seem to be working right. Mine comes on right before or right at 2k RPM.
I would specualte the shift indicator was not/is not synced to different factory gear ratios. My Jeep has 3.73s, factory sized tires, factory wheels, and the shift indicator is accurate. I drive it daily on roads more than 25mph speed limits. Maybe the 3.07’s are the issue.Same for me, more or less. But shifting at 2k lugs the engine pretty bad, I aim for 2.5k - 3k usually.
Also, I'm stuck with 3.07 gears.
Damn I need to learn how to drive better. To me that's way too low of an rpm to shift at for typical Jeep size tires unless you're puttering around on small town streets where the speed limit is 25 mph.
