Max JK tire size?

This may be a dumb question but I am still trying to figure out this whole mechanic world. I recently went ahead and did the classic JK wheel swap on my TJ as shown on my profile picture. My question is what the max tire size I can fit on these bad boys? I wanted to eventually put some 31's as I went ahead and added a lift kit when I did my suspension change. So in other words, are you able to put 31's on these? Currently running on 265/70R17

A 265/70r17 tire is roughly 32.6" by 10.4" so I think you hit the mark already with 31s! You can fit as big a tire as you want on the JK rims, just know you'll have to change backspacing and other suspension components as the tire gets bigger.

The jeep looks good! Here's my last TJ on 255/75r17 (32x10) with JK Moabs like yours.

It was suppose to be 3.5 but as you said, came out a little bigger. Haven't measured it that precise yet though. What else would you do in order to drive it on 31 besides the lift?

Haha, nah unfortunately its not even a 4.0. It's a 2.5L, but I'l be taking it into the shop for some re gearing before that most likely. Was thinking of pushing it up to 4.88 like everyone recommended. Currently it'll be a daily commute. But considering I live in Washington, I will be doing a GOOD amount of off roading especially after putting that much money into the car! lol Camping will definitely be done though. Thinking of taking it to the the beach for a good amount during the summer.

315/70R17 (roughly 34.4") is a very popular size on JK rims but requires a good amount of lift on a TJ. You would need 4"+ of lift for that, ideally 5".

285/70R17 (roughly 32.8") could
be done on 3" of lift, with 4" preferred.

265/70R17 could be done on 2" of lift reasonably.

245/70R17 could easily be done with 1" of lift, possibly even no lift.

Thanks! I think at the time this one had a 2” lift with a 1” body lift. I don’t know what brand of springs it had but they were an interesting color. Never could identify them.
