Hello,

I had a mechanic flush my coolant system, replace a leaky hose, as well as the rad cap and T-stat, and refilled coolant.

However, the engine temp now gets up to 100°C before dropping down to around 90°C, and fluctuating back and forth. It’s around 5°C outside. It seems that the T-stat doesn’t open as early as before and it’s concerning me.

Is this a potential issue? Is this a safe operating temp over a long period of time? The needle hasn’t moved past the centre line and is still far from the red. Just really don’t want to end up with a bad head gasket or something due to this.

I met one of the engineers who designed the rover that drove on the moon. Awesome conversation. Huntsville Air and Space Museum.

Anyone up for a discussion of suspension geometry in a low gravity environment?

You stick your Jeep here and you winch out or call Casey, Matt, Rory or Paul. You get stuck on the moon and that's a whole new level of screwed.

But we never made it to the moon
Try to find the documentary (Apollo zero)we have never been that far

This isn't the first time you've had this conversation ... with yourself I take it?

The Davidson Center is a great museum! My 8yo loves going there, and will be able to attend space camp for the first time when school lets out for summer.

What I am looking forward to, is the covid restrictions to be lifted, so we can visit the ISS center on Redstone Arsenal.

I had a new 192° thermostat I installed in my engine. Same maker and part number I had used 8 years before (Stant/Motorad). I wasn’t having any issues but since I put a new radiator in I figured I would update everything. The new thermostat would go to 210° every single time, and then drop to 194°. Then fluctuate between the two temperatures intermittently. I ended up buying two more brand new thermostats. The same part number and maker. All fluctuated…

I put the old thermostat back in. Zero problems once again. It is still in my engine since that little exercise a year ago…

I am not implying that temperature range is bad at all. But if I buy a thermostat for a particular temperature rating I expect it to operate there. Not 20° hotter whenever it wishes. Seems the quality of everything is going downhill rapidly…
