Metal shavings in 42RLE transmission

145k miles 2003 TJ auto. This was my magnet and i did have a few chunks in there as you can see sticking off Magnet. I’ll assume i was the first person to change this fluid. Are those chunks normal and that many shavings?

Um, No! The shavings maybe, the chunks, not so much.

Do I just ride the transmission till it dies or do i take it to a shop.

Do you experience any issues with the transmission, shifting or delays… If no, I would clean up the oil pan, install a new filter and run it. Maybe think about an oil change in a couple thousand miles to monitor possible wear.

Everything seems to be fine in the transmission. Runs smooth.
