Metallic clinking noise and stalling

Hi guys I've got a 1999 Sahara with a 4.0 and 32rh trans. For the last month I've been dealing with a combo of rpm surging, power loss and high idle. I cleaned the throttle body and sensors, changed the spark plugs and wires and a new distributor cap. Which fixed the problem for a day and a half. But this week I've been having some serious stalling issues accompanied with a high pitch metallic "clinking noise" (like clinking glasses together almost), coming from underneath driver/forward. Car is not completely stalling out but feels like it's about to die and sputters and jerks around. The problem seems to be only occuring after the car has been driven for 30ish mins and is hot. Mainly seems to occur driving up steep hills under load in 2nd gear around 1500-2000rpm. No check engine light (bulb is not burnt), no obd2 codes. Otherwise car drives like normal, trans shifts fine and like regular. Really at a loss for what the noise is as it only happens with the stalling, no noise at idle and during regular driving conditions. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated. Thx.
