Looking for some input from more experienced fab guys here. I'm working on mocking up a flat skid plate for the TJ in conjunction with a JB Conversions SS-SYE; from my initial measurements with the transfercase stuffed above the frame, I should be able to clear the skid plate by 3/16 at the lowest point (bolt heads for the trans mount). I'm planning on using this set of bushings from Barnes for mounting the cross member and they appear to be rubber instead of poly.
My question is will I have enough working clearance with these bushings, or will I have to cut reliefs into the skid to avoid contact? I'm planning to use a 3/8ths or possibly 1/2" cut of 6061-T6 for my skid plate. Would I have any concerns caving in the 3/8" skid?
