Anyone use one of these? Where did you attach it to your TJ's dash? How well does the magnet on your phone hold? Can you put it on the outside of the phone case? Or does it have to be on the back cover of your phone?

Or this one. Kind of leaning towards this one. Might be easier to use.

It was a great mount and the magnet worked perfectly. Never once did I have an issue with mine. I placed mine above the center console dash vent, never an issue with vision or falling.

Another brand I would recommend is ProClip. They have a couple options as shown in the picture.

Is the proclip that goes over the vent dependant on the stock stereo for placement? If you look at the installation instructions it kind of looks that way. I'll have to look at the top of my stereo and see if there's room for it. I really like those though. I bought a magmount. Just came in the mail today. Cost 15 bucks. And the magnets are much more powerful than the cheap one I bought for $3.50.

I have the Mobnetic for my Android and got tired of the phone falling off it as I drove the Jeep over bumps. Ended up going with this one and like it much better. Stable and the phone sits a bit lower, just below the top of the dash.

I love the simplicity of that one. I've seen it before. Is the phone to far away though? Seems like you'd have to look down and to the side to see your GPS nav. And you'd have to kind of reach for it.

That is a great question, will that mount work with an aftermarket head unit or not. I tried to see if the clip, clips upwards and grabs the inside of the bezel, or downward and grabs the top of the head unit. Or does it not have a clip and just slides ride into the gap between the bezel and head unit.

Without knowing, I would guess that it clips upwards and grabs the bezel, with the top portion clipping into the top area where the little tray is. I have one of these in my Challenger and It works like that.

I just googled it and it does work as I thought, and will work with an aftermarket stereo/head unit. Right around the 55 second mark is where you can see how it snaps into the bezel.

Mob Armor is my holder of choice, never had it release. I have mine mounted to the windshield frame next to the rear view mirror.

Mine is stuck to the RR dash thing above the vents on the center of the dash. I have the metal thing on the back of the phone too. Seems to work great on the road. But just takes one good bounce for it let loose.

It is definitely over to the side, but just to the right of the stereo. I'm about 6'1" so its not out of reach at all.

I'll try to get a picture of them both later today.

I have never had it come off on or off-road, however that term is somewhat subjective and my off-roading may not be what yours is...
Understood. Mild to moderate off-roading here. I like the Mob Armor products; they seem very well made compared to most I've seen and the couple I've tried (that have not worked). Just haven't pulled the trigger but may have to now based on your experience.

And for me as well, mine also never disconnected in road or off-camber trail riding.

I have the Proclip mount in my ‘04 TJ to hold my phone. Aftermarket radio/bezel, no problems with the install (easy) and very secure while bouncing along the Doll House Trail last month.
