It would definitely seem per this thread that there are very little (if any) modern westerns being made.

It’s pretty much a dead genre. The 40’s-70’s were the peak times. Every boy wanted to be a cowboy.
Now the soy boy culture doesn’t want masculine men, the pussifcation of men if you will.
Oddly I’d like to see a western done by the fast and the furious people but the car focus shifted to the guns. And none of the crazy impossible stuff.

News of the World staring Tom Hanks is coming out this Xmas. Doesn't look like a shoot 'um up Western but is set as a western.

Along with the above list, I've enjoyed John Wayne's "The Cowboys" and Daniel Craig in "Cowboys and Aliens"

What a shame that this genre practically doesn't exist anymore. I guess kids these days would rather just watch big budget blockbusters. 
It's not your traditional western, but it has a lot of famous faces.
Also, I liked the comic books, but the Jonah Hex movie was a disappointment for me.
I would like to mention about any western with Sam Elliot is worth watching.
The Hateful Eight and the Ballad of Buster Scruggs are the two most recent westerns that I enjoyed.
