Recently ran the Mojave Rd from Barstow CA to Needles NV. Spent 3 days 2 nights checking out the many cool sites such as the spooky cave, lava tubes, landscapes and desert houses and oddities. We faced high winds the first night but was met with calm weather the rest of the trip. Suffered a sliced sidewall the 2nd day which left me with a little anxiety being in the middle of desert with no spare and only a tire plug kit and the precious cargo of my girlfriend. Luckily, we made it the rest of the way without incident. Highly recommend this trip to anyone thinking about it. There was 1-2 water crossings near Afton Canyon about 2 feet deep nothing serious. We hardly used 4wd anywhere on the trail except for a few offshoots not on the Mojave rd. I used about 17-18 gallons of gas so I would highly recommend carrying spare fuel.
